Water Saving Tips

Bristan Water Saving Tips

By 2024, 12 regions in England are expected to face severe water stress and with the average household using 440 litres of water a day, it’s vital we work together to make small changes to reduce our water usage. At Bristan, we’re committed to being the sustainable choice, so we’ve rounded up some of our top water saving tips to try in your home.

Time your showers

Bristan Spotify Playlist

Limiting your shower to 4 minutes could save 40 litres of water per shower.
That’s 120 litres per day for a family of 4! Challenge yourself to a shorter shower with our
Spotify playlist of 4 minute songs.

Turn your tap off

When you’re brushing your teeth, shaving or washing the dishes.

Don’t run half full

Only run your washing machine and dishwasher when it’s full. It’s estimated 4 in 10 Brits run the dishwasher when it’s half empty!

Resolve leaks and drips
Not only is a dripping tap frustrating, it also uses a lot more water than you may think with it potentially adding £100 annually to your water bill!
Regularly check for leaks and resolve them as soon as possible.

Install water-saving solutions

Bristan Water Saving Flow Limiter

Installing flow limiters (also known as flow regulators) to your taps and showers is a simple way to instantly reduce water consumption.
Low flush toilets are another great option.

Reuse water

A clever way to reduce water usage is to think about how you can reuse water in other areas of your home.
One of our favourite tips is when you’re running a tap to reach a desired temperature (for washing up or bathing the kids)
collect the cooler water in a watering can and use it to water your plants.

Water plants wisely

On the theme of watering plants, take consideration and opt for a watering can instead of a hose.
You could also collect rainwater in a water butt to use in your garden.
