Race for Change. More than a race - It's a mission for change

Construction Industry Takes on the ‘Race for Change’ to Champion Inclusivity and Combat Water Scarcity

A bold new charity initiative is set to bring the construction industry together next month, combining adventure, purpose, and social impact in one unforgettable challenge.

Race for Change, a brand-new four-day charity race across Europe, will officially launch in June 2026, uniting 13 teams from across the construction sector to raise awareness of two critical issues: inclusivity in construction and global water scarcity.

Inspired by the popular TV series Race Across the World, the challenge will push participants out of their comfort zones as they race back to the UK from a mystery European location - with no phoneslimited funds, and only teamwork to guide them.

A Race with Purpose

On 19 June 2026, teams of three will be dropped into an undisclosed location somewhere in Europe and tasked with navigating their way back to the UK over four days.

The final destination? The Bristan stand at InstallerSHOW 2026, where the teams will cross the finish line after an epic journey testing resilience, collaboration, and creativity. The event is being delivered with the support of Lyrical Communications, helping bring this ambitious charity initiative to life.

But Race for Change is about much more than crossing borders. Its mission is to spark real conversations and action around diversity in construction while raising funds for life-changing WASH (water, sanitation and hygiene) and gender equality programmes through charity partner The Cycle.

Putting Inclusion at the Centre

Inclusivity is not just part of the message - it’s built into the race itself.

To enter, every team must include at least two members representing diverse characteristics, whether in terms of gender, ethnicity, disability, neurodivergence, or sexuality.

This requirement is designed to reflect the importance of diversity in the construction sector, while also giving participants the opportunity to share their experiences throughout the challenge.

By highlighting how diverse teams work together, solve problems, and overcome obstacles, Race for Change aims to demonstrate the real value that inclusion brings to the workplace and beyond.

Raising Awareness Along the Way

Throughout the journey, teams will also complete themed challenges focused on water scarcity and inclusivity.

These activities are being developed in partnership with Waterwise and the Construction Industry Coalition(CIC), helping participants, and the wider industry, better understand the urgent need for action in both areas.

The race offers a unique opportunity to shine a spotlight on the global water crisis while promoting meaningful progress toward a more inclusive future for construction.

Fundraising for Lasting Change

Every team taking part in Race for Change will commit to raising a minimum of £2,500, with half of the proceeds going to The Cycle and the remaining half donated to the team’s chosen corporate charity.

The charity at the heart of the initiative, The Cycle, works at the intersection of gender equity and climate resilience, delivering sustainable WASH services and menstrual health education in communities that need it most.

Through Race for Change, the construction industry has the chance to make a tangible difference - not only within its own workforce, but in communities around the world.

Driving Change Beyond the Finish Line

Race for Change is more than just a competition. It’s a platform for the construction industry to demonstrate leadership, embrace diversity, and support global change.

By challenging teams to rely on each other while raising funds for vital causes, the initiative highlights the power of collaboration and the positive impact the industry can make when it comes together.

As the countdown begins to June 2026, Race for Change promises to be an inspiring reminder that meaningful change starts when people are willing to step outside their comfort zones - and race toward something bigger.
