Background
Gloucestershire Football Association is one of 43 county football associations set up to organise and run football activities in their area. The association governs 750 football clubs, and has 2200 affiliated teams and 20 affiliated leagues.
The county FA had ambitious plans to makes its Almondsbury site into an all-weather coaching facility which would become a key hub for local grassroots clubs to train and perform on. A brand new floodlit FIFA 1* standard full-size third generation artificial grass pitch was a big part of the £1 million scheme, but equally as important was the ancillary developments like the revamped and extended changing room block which would cater for the additional numbers using the facilities.
Durability
The changing rooms were fitted with Bristan’s new TFP4001 Sports Panel showers to provide a robust and modern showering solution for the many local clubs and schools who would be using them. John Langdon from John Dean Building Contractors Ltd explains: “The Gloucestershire Football Association wanted to create something that would be of benefit to the local community for many years to come, so we knew that anything we specified needed to be high quality to go the distance. When considering the showers for the changing rooms, Bristan was the first name that came to mind – it is an established, trusted brand and we felt confident that Bristan’s products would be the right fit for such a prestigious development.”
Ease of use
The modern styling of the shower panels combines a sleek, fashionable low profile design and technological innovation to offer a cost-effective, entry level option for any group shower installation. They were easy to install both in the new changing rooms, and alongside the existing pipework in the changing rooms that were to be refurbished, which helped reduce the contractor’s time spent on site. As the changing rooms would be frequently used, the Sports Shower Panels were also chosen as they are robust enough to withstand heavy use. They have anti-vandal fixings and an anti-limescale shower head, so they will be very low maintenance too.
Safety
For added user safety, Bristan recommended the use of thermostatic mixing valves to ensure that should the cold water supply fail, the water would be automatically shut off and not pose a scalding risk. The shower panels also featured a built in flow regulator for optimum water saving.
