What's new at BristanNew designs and new finishes available now

When a leading care home builder, LNT Construction, was looking to consolidate the specification of bathroom fixtures and fittings in their new homes, they called on Bristan to find a product mix that would work for them. Together we were able to specify a suite of products which would not only match their commitment to high quality design and finish, but also deliver a competitive solution to help streamline build costs.

LNT Construction

Background

LNT Construction is one of the country's most prolific care home developers, having built 48 residential care facilities in just four years (2009-2012). Part of the LNT Group, which also owns Ideal Care Homes and Ginetta racing cars. LNT Construction has a full order book to 2016 and is committed to building at least 10 care homes every year for the next two years - either for operation by its sister company Ideal, or for sale to private premium care providers such as Avery Care, Nugent, MHA and Priory. The LNT Group ethos is based on quality, value and innovation and this is reflected in the high specification of the care homes built. The products they would be installing would enhance the safety, performance and aesthetics of the bathing areas.

Design, style and flexibility

LNT Commented: "We worked closely with Bristan for over a year to get the specification right for the bathrooms. It was important to us that Bristan were able to understand the complex needs of the residents and their carers who would be using the homes. For instance, shower rooms are used throughout the day by the carers so the fixtures need to be able to withstand frequent use; some of the residents may have difficulties turning taps on as they have reduced dexterity; other residents will have a visual impairment which means the products installed need to be tactile and intuitively easy to use"

Safety and complianceOPAC LNT

Vulnerable groups including the elderly and adults with special needs, are particularly susceptible to scalding injuries, so water safety is a high priority for LNT Construction. As such, they opted for Bristan Mini OPAC showers which offer exceptional hot water protection as they are TMV accredited. The specification will provide a long-lasting solution which ensures the care home bathrooms are a relaxing and safe place for residents.

Solution

To reduce the stress associated with turning taps, Bristan recommended its value taps which are designed with levers to adjust flow. As well as being aesthetically pleasing, the lever handle is easy to operate for residents with reduced grip and, as part of Bristan's value range, provides a stylish finish but without the increase in price per unit. In addition to the lever taps specified for the sink basins, design utility bath mixers have also been chosen to ensure consistency and ease of use in every aspect of the washroom.
