Popularity amongst UK homeowners for the multitasking boiling water tap is heating up. Yet some people still have reservations about the safety of multi-use taps, especially those with young families.
However, research from the Children’s Burns Trust highlights kettle spills as one of the top causes of burns or scalds. Boiling water taps have a number of safety features and installing one could help to reduce this risk.
We understand that providing reassurance to your customer is important. That’s why we’ve put together a handy list of the key safety features that will put your customer’s mind at ease when considering a boiling water tap in their kitchen.
Why install a boiling water tap?
The kitchen is where the most burn and scald incidents occur. Despite the humble kettle being a traditional appliance in every kitchen, it is one of the top causes of burns injuries. Boiling water taps are installed in a fixed location and plumbed under the sink to reduce the risk of scalding from steam or hot exterior casing.
Safety features to give customers complete piece of mind:
In most kitchens, worksurfaces are narrow and often cluttered with appliances, meaning that little hands can easily reach up and touch a freshly boiled kettle. The Bristan Rapid 3 in 1 Boiling Water Tap is fitted with a cool touch spout to prevent burnt fingers; the safe touch spout even stays cool when using the boiling water function.
Customers with young children may also be concerned about inquisitive hands accidently turning on the boiling water function of a multi-use tap. However, our boiling water taps are fitted with a safety features that will provide piece of mind for parents. Our Rapid 3 in 1 Boiling Water Tap has a safety button that must be pushed in at the same time as turning the handle. When the button is released it springs back and the water flow stops, meaning it will not run when left unattended.
Our Rapid 4 in 1 Boiling Water Tap also includes a safe touch-sensor control button that must be pressed whilst dispensing boiling water. Both of these safety features mean that, along with delayed boiling water delivery, boiling water can’t accidently be dispensed.
Although a minimum pressure of 1.5 bar is required for the instant boiling water tap installation, the boiling water setting flows at a lower pressure than the other functions. This gives people plenty of time to get hands out of the way and reduce the risk of the boiling water splashing up and scalding the user. As boiling water is stored in the hidden tank rather than the tap, this means that after use any remaining water will return to the tank, not exit through the spout providing extra reassurance to your customers.
Your customers can save time, space and money whilst knowing the boiling water tap is safe for installation in the family home. As an installer, reassuring your customers that boiling water taps are safe is paramount. That is why our taps are rigorously tested with safety features and come with a five year guarantee on the tap and two year guarantee on the tank.
