Site Conditions
Our bathroom and kitchen taps are designed to work on water pressures from 0.1 bar (1.45 p.s.i) up to 8 bar (116 p.s.i) at temperatures up to 65°C.
Note! Some models require a minimum pressure of 1 bar (14.5 p.s.i). See individual products for more detail.

Inlet Connections
Inlet connections will vary from model to model. The most common inlet connections are 1/2" and 3/4" BSP male threads, 15mm copper pipes and 1/2" BSP flexible hoses. See individual products for more detail.

Material
All of our bathroom and kitchen taps are constructed from high grade materials. The bodies are 100% brass.

Valve Type
We use a number of different types of valve design throughout our kitchen and bathroom ranges. They are:

Non-Rising Spindle:
This type of valve is similar to the rising spindle type, the difference being the spindle will not move up and down when turned on or off. This type of valve and the rising spindle valve are probably the sort of valve that most people will be accustomed to.

Rising Spindle:
With this type of valve, when the tap is turned on and off, the spindle on which the head is attached will move up and down accordingly.

1/4 Turn Ceramic Disc:
This type of valve incorporates a ceramic disc mechanism to control the flow that will either turn through 90° or 180°. They are quicker to operate then the more traditional Rising and Non-Rising valve designs. This type of valve has excellent resistance to wear and corrosion.

Ceramic Single Lever Cartridge:
This type of cartridge is used on the single lever type mixers mainly in the contemporary range. From the mid position the lever will turn through 45° on both the hot and cold side. These cartridges utilise long lasting ceramic disc technology and, as with the 1/4 turn ceramic disc valves, have excellent resistance to wear and corrosion.

Product Approval
Bristan taps are individually tested and are designed to conform to a number of British Standards including BS1010 and BS 5412. They have also been tested by the Water Research Centre and are approved or pending approval, by the Water Regulations Advisory Scheme and comply with all UK water regulations (subject to correct installation).

Guarantee
Each Bristan tap is guaranteed for 5 years covering all manufacturing defects. This does not apply to any products that have been damaged during fitting or miss-use. Gold and special colour finishes are often softer than chrome plate; therefore a 3 year guarantee covers these finishes.

Installation
All plumbing installations must conform to the legal requirements laid down in the current Water Regulations.
